Card Control

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

The Lever Switch should be placed in position "Zero" (0) (in the up position) and the card (side printed with arrows facing outwards) fed into the unit and pushed in direction of arrows until it becomes engaged with the drive mechanism. By advancing the knob , the card should be positioned to align the zero line on the card with the edge of the card feed slot which acts as a program position indicator.

Placing the Lever Switch in position "One" (1) connects the drive to the card and the program can be started. If during the program, it becomes necessary to repeat or skip part of the program, Lever Switch should be placed in position "Zero" (0) and the card moved by the manual override knob to the required position.

To remove the card from the programmer unit, the drive mechanism should be disconnected from the card by the Lever Switch at "Zero" (0) position and advanced by the knob until the card has passed through the timer, allowing the card to be easily removed.

OPERATION OF CARD PROGRAMMER

The principle on which the card programmer operates is quite simple. As soon as a certain finger drops into a groove through a cutout in the chart, the corresponding operation controlled by the selected finger is activated and will continue for the length of the cutout in the chart or until canceled by another control. The card, once energized by the Timer Switch, will advance just like a clock with each graduation exactly one minute in duration. The timing will stop by turning the Timer Switch OFF to allow proper servicing of the machine without losing actual processing time : i.e. the clock will stop for filling to the proper level or for adding supplies when the signal goes on. Silencing the buzzer will restart the timer. The machine will not jog if either the Timer, Wash, or Extract switches are ON.

Timer stops on water fills controlled by water level slots.
Drain stays open during extraction automatically.
First cut water valve slots, then 15 seconds later cut water level slot(s).

NEVER PROGRAM CYCLE END DURING THE SAME TIME FRAME AS EXTRACT.

AUTOMATIC OPERATION

Insert the card to the starting point, turn the master switch ON, and then press the timer button. From then on, the only time the operator has to attend the machine is upon completion of the program (buzzer and signal light).

CUTTING THE PROGRAM CARD

K-12 program card switches are marked from left to right in the following order:
1. Hot Water 4. First Level 7. Supply 1 10. Supply 4
2. Cold Water 5. Second Level 8. Supply 2 11. Steam
3. Drain 6. Extract 9. Supply 3 12. Cycle End

K-21 program card switches are marked from left to right in the following order:
1. Temperature 6. Second Level            11. Low Extract     16. Supply 4
2. Hot Water 7. Third Level            12. High Extract     17. Supply 5
3. Cold Water 8. Steam (option)   13. Supply 1             18. Cycle End
4. Drain        9. Polycool (option)   14. Supply 2            19. WRS Inlet

PROGRAMMING

Machine functions are related to the program card switches. For example, the drain switch controls the opening of the drain. The drain should be closed before the water comes in so the drain slot should not be extended past the beginning of the water level slot.

Motors. With the master switch ON and the timer button depressed, the machine will automatically rotate in the forward/pause/reverse wash cadence upon insertion of the card into the control. Therefore, no motor programming is required for all cycles other than extract.

Hot and Cold Water and Water Levels. Select a water type (hot or cold or split) and a water level (1^st, 2^nd or 3^rd* (*only on K-21 models)). The card will not advance to the next step until the water level is reached.

Supply. The Supply slot should be cut about 30 seconds after the water level slot. Cut the slot long enough to empty the container. Water inlet or temperature slot must be cut 30 seconds ahead of the water level slot. For water levels, first cut water valve slot(s), then 15 seconds later cut water level slot(s).

Extract. When programming extract, the drain must not be cut before extract. The drain is automatically kept open during the extract cycle. The drain slot must be cut 30 seconds at the end of the extract cycle to keep the drain open for the conditioning or fluff cycle.

Cycle End. Programming Cycle End will sound a buzzer signally the end of the wash program. It is strongly recommended to program a conditioning or fluff cycle for a minimum of 30 seconds after final extract prior to Cycle End. NEVER PROGRAM CYCLE END DURING THE SAME TIME FRAME AS EXTRACT.

CAUTION
Turn OFF the Master Switch when forwarding the card
through the programmer unless within a specific cycle.

WARNING
Do not attempt entry into machine until the basket has come to
a full and complete stop and the control signals end of program
as personal injury may occur.

EMERGENCY SHUT-DOWN PROCEDURES

In the event of a machine malfunction, depress the Emergency Stop button. This will cut the power source and cease all operations of the machine. Once the machine has come to a complete stop, reference Troubleshooting to check machine. To reset, disengage Emergency Stop button.

Model numbers determine number of speeds. C2 models have Fwd/Rev wash and Low extract (2 total); C3 models have Fwd/Rev wash, distribution and High extract (3 total); C4 models have Fwd/Rev wash, distribution Low and High extract (4 total).
