September 18,
2006 -- EAST BERLIN, CT. On September 18, 1946 in New
Britain, Connecticut, Edro Corporation opened its doors as a small specialty
tool and die shop
to serve the local manufacturing market. Now sixty years later, the
company is led by a third generation of family ownership from founder and
original president, Roman Galinski, and is a leading producer of
high quality laundry equipment.
Through the years the company has expanded
from its core business
from precision machining to equipment manufacturing. And although the original
machine shop is now only a small part of the business, the company now
focuses on leading edge laundering technology with the recent developments
of its DynOzone -DynaWash Ozone System.
EDRO Corporation has grown into a world
class manufacturer of laundry washer-extractors noted for its high quality
craftsmanship and a unique ability to manufacture customized machines for
specific market needs.
In 1954, after almost a decade in the machining business, the company
introduced DynaWash, a large capacity high speed
three pocket washer-extractor able to reduce vibration transmission thanks
to its patented three pocket design. The machine's unique design
eliminated the time consuming and labor burdened process of transferring wet
linen from separate washer to extractor and greatly improved laundry wash
aisle operations.
In the 1960's, the company expanded beyond
the original 300-pound capacity machine and developed an extensive range of
washer-extractors with
capacities from 60 to 400-pounds for a variety of industry applications
including PassThru machines for Clean Rooms and DynaMount suspension
mounting for installations above ground floors.
In the 1970's, DynaWash was introduced to the U.S. Navy and commercial
shipboard markets and quickly became the brand of choice for marine and
cruise ship vessels. Through decades of shipboard installations, the
company has gained international recognition as a leading supplier to this
market most recently outfitting world famous vessels such as CVN-76, the USS Reagan, and Cunard's
Queen Mary 2.
During the 1980's, an open pocket range from 35 to 125-pounds was
developed to help the company better compete in the the On-Premise Laundry
market of hotels/motels, nursing homes, prisons and dry-cleaning.
Today that range has grown into the competitive NX series of high speed
rigid mount washers and is supplemented with the new CSL series of high
speed soft mount series. This extensive array of equipment offers
laundry solutions to all types of laundry operations.
During the 1990's, advancing technologies including PLC and programmable computer controls,
and single motor variable speed drives were added to improve the efficiency
of the machines. Modular
equipment was designed for specific shipboard applications to allow for
new machine installation with limited access. Additional capacity soft
mount machines and partnerships with allied trades further expanded the
company's product offering.
Over the last decade the company has enjoyed continued successes in its core
business while constantly looking to the future to improve products and
services. The company's revolutionary washing technology, DynOzone - DynaWash Ozone System, is
changing the way laundry is processed in the wash aisle further improving laundering
efficiencies. EDRO now offers a comprehensive line of high
speed washer-extractors with capacities from 35 to 450-pounds in both rigid
mount and soft mount designs, as well as a complete array of allied laundry
equipment.
